Protect America Cancellation Policy Review

Have tried cancelling my protect america acct. Told it needs emailed or mailed in. Email comes back undelivered and the mail of course they say never made it there. They keep charging me every month. Everytime i call I get the run around. Going to the BBB and would not suggest to anyone!

Another victim of Protect America cancellation policy.I called to cancel my alarm service but they said I had to write a letter or send an email. So they said I need to send the email to cancelrequest@***.com. undeliverable was my email terrible contract is up and they will automatically take money from month to month reporting to BBB. I AM EXTREMLY UN HAPPY WITH THIS COMPANY and its service. Money is hrd to come by when on a fixed income. It took 2 hrs to get into the email address and then to find out it was not a working email receipient was exasperating to say the least

Preferred solution: get the physical address now and write a lettr of cancellation. I see this will take some time but i dont have too much more patience

Protect America

System worked off cell service. Then it no longer had the strength to work all the time. So you must connect the unit to internet directly. My internet connection is upstairs so I got a key pad that stays downstairs. Every time you have to set this stuff up yourself. Takes hours on the phone. Sent me equipment that when I connected burned out. Sent more equipment....long story short I have paid these idiots for over a year with NO service. They are finally sending a tech to my house. Won't let you cancel. Also they are avoiding my demand for proof that they have email locking me into 3 year agreement. Save yourself the trouble and get a better company.

Military personal be aware!

This company will tell you you can cancel at anytime with military orders to move but that's a lie! When the time comes you will be told they never said that and they will continue to charge you until you call your bank and block their charges. Then they will get a creditor involved and charge you WAY more than their $19 a month fee they originally had you under. They also claim they are an accredited BBB company but they most definitely are not! Check for yourself, it lists them as a 95% negative feedback from customers. Despite my many efforts to reach out to them they refuse to accept fault in their employees quotes.

I have a contract with protect America for 3 yrs. I had to move and had to stay with my friends and family for a few months before I found a place in the new city. Protect America refused to put my account on hold and did not have any cancellation policy than to pay rest of the contract which will be 1.5 years. Will I ever renew my contract even if I needed a security system with protect America? No way. The customer service rep says it is like having a car I need to make payments even if I don't use it. Oh yeah I can sell my car what do I get to sell here?

Cancel Protect America

Another victim of Protect America cancellation policy. I called to cancel my alarm service but they said I had to write a letter or send an email.

So they said I need to send the email to cancelrequest@***.com. Thus far I have tried twice to send an email but they both came back. Now I will have to contact them again to find the correct address to send the email to.

Such a pain to work with this company. They like to get your money but have no interest in providing excellent service.

I have reported them to BBB, but its still too early to see if anything can be done. They are crooks and do not do what they say they will do.

Getting a hold of them is so difficult too.

Stay away from them. Charging people for service that is not no longer connected are just crooks.

Same deal. December 2016 I attempted to cancel.

They send me the same email but is was not valid. When I called the support line to cancel, my call would be hung up on.

Now 3/1/2017

I thought I was done with it however it looks like the put my account in suspense mode or something and charge me 51.99 Today 3/1/2017 out of the blue meaning no charges in between December and till now.

Their suspense mode is $4 something a month for 3 months for this charge out of the blue is bull ***.

Regardless they told me today that that email system is not part of the process and now there is a form it is not a emailed web link they send you.

I think we may have to file a class action suit with this company I tried to cancel since Oct. 2016 .

The equipment is removed and no longer in use and I am still being billed.

You can't cancel on line because it is not working.

I will call my lawyer to see what can be done.

I started with verbal requests to cancel in March of 2016 and now it is February of 2017 and I call every month to cancel. They keep charging me.

I moved in March and property already had alarm system. Maybe a court case is in the future.

Stay Away for Protect America

It took me a month to resolve a camera Issue and then another week and counting to resolve a sensor issue. Endless commutes to my shore property and ENDLESS waits on the Customer Cue. Typically more than an hour to get in touch with a live person. Interestingly. I called Sales and they picked up the phone in two rings. They care F-all about their existing customers because of their contract. If you think Comcast or Time Warner are bad, these guys will astound you. And they want you to test your system monthly, but again. ENDLESS waits. In fairness, once you do get someone they are polite and generally competent.

I ordered my system back in February with a camera, I was told that I could down grade from the camera if I choose. I called a couple of days ago and was told no, even though they listened to the recording and heard the sales guy say I could. They basically told me yeah he said it so what its not in your contract. You are not allowed to cancel for whatever reason. PLEASE BE AWARE IF YOU GIVE THEM YOUR DEBIT CARD NUMBER SO THEY CAN AUTOMATICALLY DEDUCT, THEY WILL NOT STOP THAT TRANSACTION. I had to go to my bank fraud department to settle the immediate complaint. They would not allow me to send equipment back. According to Protect America, there is no such thing as a cancellation. BBB here I come and any other means I can take, THEY HAVE TO BE STOPPED! I have never dealt with such a cut throat company like them and I am appalled at how they do business.

Camera never showed up. The people that delivered and installed said it was coming in a week. It never showed up. My son was broken into and the police said the camera would have definately helped us to catch the thief. After complaining several times they blamed it on a third party vendor. They claimed we signed a three year contract also that I don't remember signing up for three years. Protect America said they would adjust our bill and never did. I suggest everyone complain to the BBB. If they get enough complaints maybe the BBB will do their job and shut them down. We all should look into a class action law suite.

These people are a nightmare when trying to cancel or cease monitoring. I canceled in April and here it is August, and I'm still getting billed for services that I shouldn't have had.

They keep saying that the air was on my part and I have spoken to five people thus far, and I finally told them they were not getting paid, and that I was going to ignore every bill they sent me. They threatened to send it to collections, and I told them the law was that I do not deal with collections; I deal with the company with whom I had the dispute. I am returning their bill with a cease and desist note,and I do not plan on hearing from them again. Do not obtain services from Protect America.

There is equipment is subpar, and they do not let their customers guy! This is the way they make their extra money after the three-year contract has ended, and you request cancellation.

I am having the same exact issue same time frame and they keep telling me they never received an email. This is crazy got the same threat and my service was not working for over 18 months equipment never worked.

The company trick you When you Cancel the contract.

I had a 3 year contract with Protect America. The 1st year was OK, the 2nd year I began having problems with my equipment, the main unit failed many times. Then my landlord, sold the house. When I called to cancel the contact, they told me that in order to do that, I had to sell the contract to another person or pay $620.00. I understand that not Protect America's problem that my landlord sold the house. I paid all the monthly installment up to the last penny. When I called to cancel the account, I could get no one to help because the alarm is in my wife's name. She doesn't speak English fluently so we had to call on one of the rare times (I work 2 jobs) we're at home together at the same time during Protect America's business hours. This time with my wife on the other phone, no one asked about her or cared if she was on the line. They told me that the only way to cancel was through e-mail and it would take a month to process the cancellation, so now I have to pay an extra $54 for another month of service on top of the $109.1 for two extra months because no one would help me without my wife on the line or disclose that the only way to cancel was via email. This is all for a service have not used in 11 months because my landlord sold the house.

Unhappy customer

I had protect America for 4 yrs. I called when one of the sensors was no longer working. They sent me a new sensor, at that time I asked if I qualified for and up grades and was told no. I decided to go to a differed company. When I tried to cancel I could not find a phone number so I went on line and started a chat with them. During the chat I was told that I would receive a email to confirm the cancelation. this was July 29, on July 30 I called them again and was told that they have received notice that I wished to cancel and would received an email By August 3 I had not received I called again. that this time I was told that I had to send them a email to cancel. So I sent them a email and I would receive a reply email confirming cancelation. A week went by they charged me for August. I called again and told that they have received my cancelation. So then September came around and they have charged me again. now I am being told that the chat where I first put this in writing was not good enough and even thou I followed the chat up with a phone call that still was not enough. Now they say that the email was received on August 3 was after the first of the month so they have charged me again. Let see if they use this as a testimonial for marketing. It may be in the original agreement you sign but after that really who has that readily available to review so you got to their website and this is what you get.At Protect America, the standard procedure to cancel your home security contract is to call this number: 800-951-****, option 4. Our customer CARE representatives will do everything they can to access your situation and resolve any outstanding concerns. We may ask you what has changed since you signed up initially, and if there are any existing problems that we could assist you with instead of canceling. If you need better equipment or monitoring, we will be happy to upgrade you.

If you are not at the end of your term and you still wish to cancel, there are penalties for not completing the agreement. Any customer who wants to cancel their contract earlier than the agreement allows will have to pay out the remainder of their balance due.

Of course it takes more than a half hour to get through and one department can not answer your problems. All they do is try to get more payments from you.
